Indonesian textile and garments exports has increased in the first 5 months of 2006

Indonesian textiles and garments exports increased 7.3% to US$3.65 billion in the first 5 months of 2006 compared with the same period in 2005. The increase was the highest for January-May period since 2004, according to the textile association (API).

The United States has remained the largest buyer of Indonesian textiles accounting for 30% of the country's exports. The exports of textiles and garments is likely to see an increase to the United States and Japan following imposition of supply quotas on Chinese textile, but exports to the European Union have fluctuated.
